800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Karnataka commissioned by - BHEL

• The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) commissioned a 800 MW supercritical thermal power plant in Raichur District of Karnataka on 30th March 2017. 
• The plant which was commissioned on 15th March 2017 is also the BHEL’s first 800 MW Supercritical Thermal Power Plant.

Power bill subsidy to consumers to be paid by  Bihar Government

• The Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar made an announcement on 31st March 2017 that the state government would be providing a subsidy on power bill to the consumers instead of power companies from the 2017-18 fiscal year onwards.
• The announcement was made in the state assembly in the presence of Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Energy minister. 
• It comes six days after Bihar Electricity Regulatory Commission (BERC) introduced an unprecedented hike of 55 per cent in power tariff that sparked protests all across the state.

World Autism Awareness Day 2017 observed globally on - 2nd April

• The World Autism Awareness Day 2017 was observed across the world on 2nd April 2017. The 2017 theme for the day is Toward Autonomy and Self-Determination. 
• World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognised day. It encourages Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about children with autism throughout the world. 

Second Annual Meeting of New Development Bank begins in - New Delhi

• The second Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank began on 31st March 2017 in New Delhi. The meeting will be held for three days  till 2nd April 2017.
• The opening ceremony of the NDB Second Annual Meeting will be held at Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on 1st April 2017.
