E-Sports will be played as a medal event in 2022 Asian Games  

  • Among Important Sports Current Affairs, In April Olympic Council of Asia announced a partnership with Alisports to introduce esports as a medal game. 
  • Esports will be introduced as demonstration sport at 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and will be made as medal game in 2022. 
  • Thus these games will become one step closer to be a part of Olympic Games. 

Bhakti Yadav, first female MBBS doctor from Indore who was presented with Padma Shri

  •  Dr. Bhakti Yadav was presented with Padma Shri award as she was unable to attend the function organised in New Delhi on 13th April. 
  • She is first female MBBS doctor from Indore and is popular with the name of Doctor Didi.
  • She has treated many patients selflessly and in free during her long career. Gynaecologist Dr. Bhakti Yadav is 91 years old now.

 Italian mayor Giuseppina Nicolini won UNESCO Peace Prize 

  • Mayor of the Italian island of Lampedusa was awarded with UNESCO Peace prize. This prize is known as Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize.
  • He was presented with this award for this efforts in saving the lives of migrants and refugees.

India inked MoU with which country for defence shipbuilding - South Korea

  • India and South Korea inked MoU to enhance cooperation in the field of defence shipbuilding.
  • From Indian side Ashok Kumar Gupta, Secretary Defence Production and from South Korea side Chang Myong Jin was present at occasion.
  • This will also enhance strategic partnership between two countries.

 International Mother Earth Day 2017 observed o  22nd April 2017

  • Among Important Days, On 22nd April 2017, International Mother Earth Day was observed across the globe. Theme of this year was Environmental & Climate Literacy.
  • This day is obsereved with an aim to raise awareness among people about saving nature for future generations.

Jakarta was first India-Indonesia Energy Forum held 

  • On 20th April 2017, First ever India - Indonesia Energy Forum was held in Jakarta, Indonesia. From Indian side Union Minister Piyush Goyal was present at the occasion while from Indonesia side Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan participated in the event.

India won elections in - Two UN subsidiary bodies

  •  India won two subsidiary bodies elections of a United Nations (UN) Organisations. These are Committee for Programme and Coordination (CPC) and International Narcotics Control Board.
  • India got most votes in Asian Group as 49 out of 50 members of ECOSOC group voted in favour of India in CPC Election.
