Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs
unveiled a philosophical novel on God titled “Confessions of a dying mind:
The
blind faith of atheism,” in New Delhi on 23rd May 2017. The book is termed as
world’s first philosophical novel on God, is penned by IAS officer Haulianlal
Guite, published by a UK based Bloomsbury Publishing.
Test flight completed by World's largest aircraft -
Airlander 10
The world's largest aircraft, Airlander 10 successfully
completed a test flight on in the third week of May 2017.
The hybrid aircraft
dubbed the Airlander 10 merges technology of airplanes, helicopters and
airships.
The aircraft is designed to stay aloft at altitudes of up to 20000
feet for up to five days while manned.
It is the largest aircraft currently
flying at a massive 302 feet long.

The World Health Assembly elected Dr. Tedros Adhanom
Ghebreyesus as the new Director-General of the World Health Organisation (WHO)

Ethiopia’s Ghebreyesus will begin his five-year term on 1st
July 2017. Ghebreyesus will succeed Dr Margaret Chan, who has been serving as
WHO’s Director-General since 1st January 2007.

appointed as the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) on 25th May

Sanjay Mitra took charge as - Defence Secretary

Cobra lily rediscovered after 84 years - In Nilgiris
The rare Arisaema translucens, more commonly known as the
cobra lily was recently rediscovered in the western Nilgiris after 84 years.
Nature enthusiasts K M Prabhu Kumar and Tarun Chhabra made this discovery.
News
of the discovery was published in a journal on botanical taxonomy Phytotaxa in
May 2017.
P V Sindhu elected to Badminton World Federation Athletes’
Commission
Olympics silver medallist P V Sindhu on 24 May 2017 became
the second Indian to be inducted in the Badminton World Federation (BWF)
Athletes' Commission.
Before Sindhu, Saina Nehwal was inducted to the
Commission. Sindhu emerged the highest voted player in the BWF Athletes'
Commission election that took place on the sidelines of the Sudirman Cup in
Gold Coast, Australia.
