Which country took chair of UN group of 134 developing countries - Ecuador

  • On 14th January 2017, Ecuador took over the chair of the United Nations Group of 77. Before Ecuador this chair was with Thailand.
  • Capital of Ecuador is Quito and President of Ecuador is Rafael Correa.
  • The Group of 77 (G77) at the United Nations is a coalition of developing nations and it promotes the interests of the 134 developing countries. This group was formed on 15th June 1964.

India inked MoU to construct 3000 Rain Water Harvesting systems with - Sri Lanka

  • On 13th January 2017, India inked MoU's with Sri Lanka to construct rain harvesting systems in the northern Jaffna District. This will be of worth 30 crores approx.
  • Acting High Commissioner of India Arindam Bagchi signed it in the presence of Abdul Hameed Mohamed Fowzie, State Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation of Sri Lanka.
