25 children including 13 girls selected for National Bravery Awards
- Twenty-five children among which 12 girls and 13 boys have been selected for the National Bravery Awards 2016.
- Four of the awards will be given posthumously. Each and every winner of the award will receive their awards from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23rd January 2017.
Second Raisina Dialogue held in New Delhi
- The second edition of Ministry of External Affairs’ annual Raisina Dialogue which was held in New Delhi with the theme “The New Normal: Multilateralism in a multipolar world”.
- The flagship geo-political conference was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was attended by delegates from 65 countries.
Union Cabinet approves India’s Membership in the International Vaccine Institute
- The Union Cabinet has finally given its approval to the proposal for India’s taking full membership of the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) Governing Council.
- However, this decision involves payment of annual contribution of US $5,00,000 to the IVI (headquartered in Seoul, South Korea).
Antonio Tajaniis new President of European Parliament
- On 17th January 2017 the Italian conservative Antonio Tajani was elected as the President of the European Parlaiment.
- To be elected for the post, Tajanu defeated another Italian Gianni Pitella with 71 votes.
- Tajani also secured 351 votes, against 282 for patella, a socialist. The contest ran to the maximum four rounds.
Union Cabinet approves Trade Agreement negotiations with Peru
- The Union Cabinet has approved holding negotiations for Trade Agreement with Peru on trade in goods, services and investment.
- The trade agreement will be an important landmark in India-Peru relations and consolidate the traditional fraternal relations also that have existed between India and LAC countries.
