Digital initiatives to promote e-education launched by - President Pranab Mukherjee

  • President Pranab Mukherjee launched four major digital initiatives in to push e-education on 9th July 2017.
  •  These digital initiatives are SWAYAM Prabha, SWAYAM and National Academic Depository. The Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development manages and supervises all these digital initiatives

Ahmedabad becomes first Indian city to get UNESCO Heritage tag on - 8th July 2017

  • The Indian city of Ahmedabad was declared India’s first World Heritage City, recognising heritage value of the walled city’s unique heritage on 8th July 2017
  •  The World Heritage Committee (WHC) of UNESCO following a meeting in Krakwo, Poland made this announcement.

First pregnant man to give birth in Britain - Hyden Cross

  • Hyden Cross, 21 years old Britain's first pregnant man has given birth to a girl. 
  • He made headlines around the world earlier in 2017 when he announced that he was pregnant by a sperm donor.

Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas wins 2017 Austrian Grand Prix

  • Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas won the 2017 Austrian Grand Prix held at Red Bull Ring Spielberg, Styria, Austria on 9th July 2017.
  • Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished just behind Bottas , grabbed the second place while Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo stood third in the race.

Former Indian Ambassador to the US Naresh Chandra passed away on


  • Naresh Chandra, former Indian Ambassador to the United States, passed away on 9th July 2017 due to brief illness. 
  • He served as the Indian Ambassador to the United States between 1996 and 2001.
