New Zealand Beach was mass stranding of whales done recently 


  • More than 400 whales got themselves stranded in the early morning hours of 10 February 2017 at Farewell spit in the South Island of New Zealand. Almost 300 of them died at beach only.
  • This has been taken as the worst whale stranding in decades.
  • The Department of Conservation (DOC) immediately launched a rescue operation for the beached whales upon notification.

  • A Manifesto ‘For Women in Science’ was launched in 2016 by the UNESCO with the L’Oreal Foundation aiming towards engaging Governments and stakeholders in promoting the full participation of girls and women in science.
