  • Legislative Assembly of Karnataka passed a bill on cruelty of Animals.


  •  This amendment was required to exempt the conduct of bullock cart racing for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960.
  •  State High Court banned the sports after receiving a petition from PETA.

World Radio Day observed on 13th February 2017

  • India observes its National Productive Day on 12th Feb 2017. In fact it goes from 12th-18th Feb for a complete one week with the theme of ‘From Waste to Profits-through Reduce, Recycle and Reuse’.
  • National Productivity Council (NPC) organizes this day to encourage all the stakeholders to implement productivity tools and techniques with contemporary relevant themes.
